Recently purchased this model to replace an older Onkyo product and as usual I am very pleased with this model. Not sure what the other review is about concerning trashing this model and claiming Denon is better since I know people who own Denon and wish they stuck with Onkyo. Sound quality is very good and I did buy Klipsch Dolby Atmos speakers because the Onkyo version were not very powerful so I went with the higher wattage in Klipsch. Sound is smooth and very loud and the connections were easy to understand. Needed a receiver that could handle both HDR and Dolby Vision and of course Atmos. This is my 10th Onkyo receiver over the many years and they never disappoint. Excellent build quality and reliability. I stick with what works so I stick with Onkyo.

As Dave mentioned in a earlier review, Denon has nothing on Onkyo…Just look at their ARC interfaces. Onkyos interface is professional, sleek and elite while Denons is like looking at a Commodore 64 computer. I owned 5 different Denons within the past year and sold them all because of this. I just wasn’t happy with it. Now Onkyo on the other hand, kudos my friends! My first Onkyo was the HTR550. Still have it. Then I moved on to the TX series and it all went uphill from there. Countless Onkyos…. so many I started selling them and still have my favorites. My latest one is the 797. I’m impressed by the features and power. For anyone that needs more power, for God’s sake, get a fricken power amp to hook to it, don’t write a bad review. At this time, I currently own 4 Onkyos ( HTR550, TXNR585, NR787, NR797) three of which are on the home network. I am very pleased with my receivers so much so I promote the brand every chance I get. I currently run a repair shop out of home and have a good time doing it with a great stereo to promote it with!

I bought this receiver to replace a 10+ year old Onkyo Home theater in a box receiver and I absolutely love it! Tons of features, options and ballsy! I have it running all Klipsch speakers.

I have this receiver and running 5.2.4 set up with all Klipsch speakers and subs. This system shakes my neighbors house when I’m watching movies with the volume set on 60. Plenty of power. Awesome receiver. Loaded with features.
