Great HT for limited budgets

It has been hard trying to break into home theater setups with a limited budget. But that was until I heard that Onkyo was offering entire systems to simplify the process. This system easily beats out any other budget home theater systems. The wife was skeptical at first, but after I set everything up, hid the wires, and cranked a Lord of the Rings DVD, she was sold. You simply can't get anything better for less.

The HT-S680 was a welcomed upgrade from my 4 year old cheap HTIB. Sounds wonderful, and it has more features than any other system for the price.

Excellent Product

I have used the HT-S680 for about a month. It is used in conjunction with an Infocus 4800 front projector on a 106" diagonal screen. The sound reproduction is excellent, especially with DVDs that have Dolby Digital 5.1 EX, such as the new Star Wars DVD. The connectors on the rear of the unit are extremely helpful since I want to minimize the wiring going to the projector which is ceiling mounted. I have one S-Video cable going from the receiver to the projector. I have the DVD player hooked to the DVD in on the back of the receiver using an S-Video cable. I have a TV tuner hooker up to another S-Video in on the receiver. It is quite simple to switch between inputs with the remote. I may also hook up a second DVD player for home theater presentations. (This would be equivilant to having a "second projector" at a movie theater for showing intros and then moving to the feature.). All in all, an excellent product with excellent sound reproduction.

Onkyo has now earned a loyal customer in me. I got the refurbished unit directly from onkyo and after hooking up as per the instructions, the output was awesome. I upgraded from a samsung HTIB and I could see a BIG difference in clarity and quality... Kudos to Onkyo for making such a solid system.

Great Home Theater System!

I live in a 1000-sqft efficiency apartment. It fills the whole room with great bass and crisp sound. The details are impressive. I always tune the volume no higher than half of maximum, otherwise I doubt that ppl living downstairs would be wondering what's happening up there. Highly recommended!

I am still working on the best setup but I am happy with my purchase. The included cable with the system will be upgraded in time but I feel that the system was definitely worth it. I will buy from onkyo again.

Awesome Product- perfect for a 18 by 12 room.

I just got this product as a welcome jesture from Onkyo for not being able to process an earlier order as they had oversold. As if I was not happy with this gesture, the system I received increased my satisfaction by leaps and bounds. It seems to be a perfect system for my 18 by 12 room. The sound fills the room beautifully and is crystal clear. Only problem I found with this product was it takes only one optical input, so I will need to buy a switch. I am still in the process of customizing the system to get optimum results and it seems it may take a few days to do so.
