Worked great at first....

I purchased this DVD for a bedroom TV. The DVD player worked great at first until I upgraded the TV and tried to connect it to the component (prog scan) output. Obviously there's something wrong with the plugs since I only get a yellowish color. Also, as of recently, it's been having a few issues freezing up. It's not a bad DVD player for the price, but definitely needs some services.

I had been shopping for sometime to get a matching DVD player to my HT-580. I tried Toshiba and Phillips, and they have all removed their optical output cable ports on the back of the DVD player. So I spent a little more and bought the Onkyo, and i am glad i did. the receiver has all the high end connections, and even came with the RI cable to connect it with the receiver and have the receiver remote control the DVD player. The only complaint I have is that it does not match the lighting of the receiver. One is blue and one is orange.

Problems

I liked this DVD player until I too experienced the stuttering effect mentioned by an earlier reviewer. It also failed to eject the disc or open or close until I turned it off and let it cool for about a half an hour. I've never experienced this before with a DVD player. I'm wondering if there was a bad bunch of something.

I'm now on my THIRD DV-SP302, after returning the first two due to video stuttering. The first two were purchased through jr.com and I bought the third directly from Onkyo, only to find that it, too, stutters. My connections are all good; there's no excuse for this consistently poor performance, let alone Onkyo's "shoulder shrugging" when I ask about. I'm very disappointed in this gear; should've stuck with Sony.

This dvd player does it all! I love being able to watch dvd-rw, my other dvd player would not read them. I also like the RI feature. Having my TX-SR502 reciever hooked up to this dvd player is AWESOME!!!

Upraded my DVD player to Onkyo's DV-SP302. The video and sound quality exceeded my expectations; even after researching the product online. You can purchase and use this player with confidence.

After my Toshiba DVR/ DVD player's drive stopped functioning and Toshiba failed to cover it, i was in the market for a good dvd player. I did a lot of research and found that Onkyo had the best deal and best specs. I now have it running with my home theatre system and I love it, its a great product. I reccomend you buy Onkyo, you can't beat their quality for the price.
