So far it plays most of the stuff I throw at it, +R and -R, SVCD and VCD. Haven't tried anything like DIVX or XVID but I have a different player in a different room for that.

Overall a very good player at a great price.
 

Our other dvd/cd player was working fine and if not for the special promotion, we probably would not have gotten the Onkyo player at that time. Since it was free, we expected to get a basic, low-end player that we would probably put with a system in another room. Now the old dvd player is in the other room. This was our first experience with Onkyo products. The quality and great performance of the "free" Onkyo player have been a nice surprise! It is certainly not a low-end product and definitely worth paying for.
 

I must say the player was shipped to my door in 2 days, and the unit looks, and plays

as brand new. Both my wife, and I couldnt find any visible flaws with the player. We both couldnt believe what a great deal we got with this purchase. As far as the performance of the player

all I can say is WOW. The video detail is incredible. I also hooked up this player via the optical

cable in to my Onkyo 603 receiver, and the sound quality is the best I ever heard, PERIOD.

This player is an excellent value at full price, but definately check out Onkyos website

and buy there refurbished units with confidence. This is a high quality company with high

quality products.

I wanted a multiple disc player with random feature, memory playback, optical output and JPEG capability... this has it all.

I have it combined with the HT-S780 and I'm pleased beyond my expectations.

It's a winner from Onkyo!

2) I bought a refurbished unit--I was completely satisfied with the surround sound refurbished system I bought last year and I am completely satisfied with this unit. The sticker on the box said "minor cosmetic blemishes"--I have to say they are so minor I couldn't find them.

3) The DVD player itself is great--the whole family has noticed a better picture from this unit than from our old (not ONKYO) DVD player--and the sound seems to be better as well. The unit looks nice and operates well and the changer does not seem to be too noisy. It is nice that you can change disks while one is still playing.

4) Very happy with this and looking forward to many years of use. Thanks ONKYO.
 

By the way, I placed the order on the weekend and had it on my doorstep on Wednesday morning here in Milwaukee. It arrived before the shipping confirmation did.

The performance is great. I've loaded up my 2 year old's favority movies and my Wife can just pick and choose which of the six Video's he's in the mood for without having to shuttle DVD's in and out.

Can say enough about the value, performance and integration with the balance of our Onkyo components.
 

2nd unit came =very dissapointed the unit looks great in silver and plays great but the bad thing is the lcd display is green... will send it back and technical support said the only way i could have lcd in amber color is to buy new one none refurb., so will probably do.
 

I know I'll keep coming back to Onkyo for my home theater needs...

the only downer is that it is kinda big due to the 6 disc carosel changer. if it was a stack changer it would be nicer. but it is a little bigger than average but its cool. everyone should buy this dvd player. quality, good buy, nice look.
 

This was a great move! This Onkyo CD/DVD really performs! The video is far superior to my old RCA DVD player and the audio is equal or better then my old SONY CD player. Hook up was a breeze and the fact that it will work off the 780's remote is a real nice feature. Being able to load up 6 discs is a party ready to go! Buy this player you will be happy! I am really impressed with the features Onkyo gives you for a fair price.
 

The Bad; agonizingly slow upon initial startup, inability to fast-forward through an individual song on a CD.

Overall; for the price and ability to link it to my HT-R530 I can't complain, although I only purchased this item because I already had the Onkyo AV receiver.

Setup was easy and paired with the HT-780 that i purchased it works great. Great picture and sound quality. I did not experience the loud changing of discs that I seen on other reviews. The best part for me is using the same remote for all my components and it seems better than all the expensive all in one type remotes that have purchased in the past.

I have only two minor complaints. The first is it seems a little slow changing discs - but relativity quiet. The second is the use of the Onkyo screen saver. I feel it is not needed and rather unappealing.

Both units were purchased as refurbished products. In my opinion, the refurbished units are equal to or better than new. The quality and condition are first rate as well as a great way to save money.

Overall, I am pleased with both units and would highly recommend them

But I think it is an excellent changer at any price! I hadn't done my homework on changers and was just hopeful that this unit would satisfy me as well as other Onkyo products. I was NOT disappointed!

Even though it is a "refurbed" unit, I cannot find any indication of it other than a few stickers.

My unit is very quiet and hooked up easily. I love the way it returns to the last place viewed when stopping for interruptions!

Plays everything I've thrown at it very well. Initially wanting to see it play I had it hooked up to my big Fisher speakers for fronts and my Polks for rears and the Onkyo subwoofer at low. Put in "Lord of the Rings" and like to have shook the complex down! I couldn't believe how wonderfully clear it played!

Great unit with lots of nice features, especially the RI remote control that integrates it with the rest of my system. Optical out for audio is nice as well.

Aesthetically pleasing with the rest of my Onkyo system and light above tray is a pleasure. Getting older and black units aren't as easy for me to see as I wish but I still like their appearance. I would think silver would be nice for those with vision challenges.

A great deal, go for it! I don't think you'll regret it!
 

Excellent Sound and Features.

Only negative I've found so far, is that I have no audio when I play DVD's I recorded on my DVD recorder or burned on my computer. Tried a DVD my buddy burned at it worked fine, so maybe it's not the onkyo but how I burned it. Still a mystery.

The picture quality is superior to my current Sony 5 disk changer. To bad all new dvd player's lack jog shuttle remote's this is why this player will always be a cd player in my house, I must have certain feature's that come with my Sony players.

The video quality is also superior to the Sony.

I broke the unit in with the LOTR trilogy and the picture was absolutely gorgeous via the component out. I also tried the S-video out with similar results.

Overall, a great player for the money.
