Good DVD Player

I have owned this DVD player for over 2 years now. I have enjoyed it's progressive scan picture and it's many other features. I like the ability to turn down the LCD display brightness. Sometimes this can be distracting in a totally dark room when watching a movie.

This unit has been harshly judged on some of the other electronics web sites. I have used the player for about a week now. The sound quality is first rate using the Burr Brown DAC. I am also satisifed with the progressive scan video quality. I just have not expereinced the problems that others have mentioned. The only weakness was in the area of jpg playback. For under 200 dollars this player is great value.

This product has worked well for the past couple of years. Reads all discs easily -- has multiple connects in back for various options. Only drawback is relatively slow opening of draw upon startup and slower random disc operation as a cd player in full random than past cd changers I've had.

I absolutely love this CD/DVD player. I paid 100 for it and it was worth every penny (and many more!) It has played both cds and dvds beautifully for over a year. i have never had any difficulty with it skipping or having any problems. It has a great remote and menu setup. I also think it looks very sleek. I would definitely purchase this same unit again when I expand for another room in my house.

I purchased this unit for CD music in my weight room! It sounded so good that I hooked it up in the living room to the surround sound for DVDs..WOW! I gave the old Sony DVD player to my dad.

I wanted to upgrade my DVD player. I had looked at many different models but ended up looking at the onkyo DV-CP701 because i like the 6 disc changer. Once I hooked it up I was amazed by the picture and the sound. I decided to use the optical cable for the digital sound. The only complaint that I had was the loudness of the player changing DVDs. Other then that it is a perfect DVD player in my eyes.

I needed a new player and decided to go with a changer. I wanted a quality player that didn't make a spinning noise when playing discs. I was tired of hearing spinning noise at quiet points in the movies. I also wanted a player that had quality slow motion capabilities and progressive scanning.

I did the research, shopped around, and talked to people and I settled on this model from Onkyo. Everything I was hoping for in my player has been realized.

Best DVD player I've owned yet. I'm totally happy with it.

Bought this DVD changer to replace a single disc player because we wanted the flexibility the changer would provide. We were constantly switching DVDs in and out of our current player. We've been extremely happy with our refurbished Onkyo home theater system so we decided this refurbished DVD changer was worth a try. The sound and picture have been excellent. Like the fact that you can change from one DVD to another and the changer will remember where you left off on each DVD. We're extremely happy with this changer and it was a great deal from shoponkyo especially after using our Onkyo points. You can't beat Onkyo for excellent and affordable products.

Our Apex player is on its last leg. The picture was freezing and showed pixelization. We purchased the CP701S as a replacement and we are very satisfied. The picture quality is excellent. We are using the optical audio connection to a Onkyo HTS-670. It sounds great. The dvd player takes about a minute to power-up. But, after it is on, it plays quite well. Combined with an Onkyo home theater system - the whole package is outstanding!

Ordered a refurbished DVCP701 (as it has the same specifications as the more expensive DVCP702). Received it superquick in a couple of days...just plugged in place of my old Pioneer DVD Player, and must say that I am very happy with the sound and quality of the Onkyo player. Did not find the changer that noisy as previously mentioned.

In summary, the best $99 I have spent for a long time!

I purchased this dvd changer as a birthday gift for my father and he loves it! I think its awesome as well. We got it refurbished for under $100 and it is way better than any of the other players i could have gotten for that price.

This is a great DVD changer. It has played everything that I've put into it. You can even change discs while another one is playing. Best of all, you can turn the display completely off so it doesn't distract you while watching a movie. Buy one and you won't be disappointed.

This is an amazing DVD system....It plays everything-but I am having some issues playing a VCD. I guess they are not compatible. Blue light is nice...it works great with the ONKYO HTS 770 home theater system I own..you can use one remote for both systems. Great product for the value. I bought a refurbished product from Shop Onkyo website.

I just hooked it up, and everything was perfect right out of the box. Setup was easy, no manual needed. Changer speed is kind of slow, ie: Using it for a music jukebox with MP3 discs might not meet your expectations due to slow changer speed, but the noise level that is often complained about seems to be normal, very similar to a JVC carousel CD changer I used, I was expecting really loud, but it seemed quite normal to me. I like that it remembers where I left off on a DVD when I return after listening to music or going into standy mode. So far I have no complaints. Can't wait for my matching receiver to really hear what a complete Onkyo system sounds like. Bottom line, I paid $99 plus $10 shipping at J & R Music World. Awsome deal for a really cool DVD/CD/MP3/WMA Changer. Thanks Onkyo.

We have found it to be a great DVD player for us. It can handle multiple formats of audio and video data. The remote could be better and the playter 'locked-up' on me once (no ploblems after unplugging it for a few minutes). Overall, it's been a very positive purchase for us.

A little bit on the noisy side and it takes awhile to get it going when just turning it on. But after that it is the best DVD player I have used in a long time.

I bought this unit as a refurbished model. I was extremely pleased on the shipping. One of onkyos customer reps told me it wouldnt arrive untill a week later, because of warehouse issues, to my surprise it was there in 2 days. I opened it up to expect a slighty damaged player, I COULDNT FIND A SINGLE SCRATCH ANYWHERE. The dvd player has a very nice picture and sound, it has all the features that one would need except I cant find a zoom. The remote control is absolutely horrible. I always pick it up upside down. ALL said I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with this dvd player and I would recomend it to anyone that needs a high quality unit with a less then millionare budget.

This Slim 6+1 DVD/ CD/ CR-R/ MP3 Changer seems to do it all! It will play a CD/DVD while you change all the other disks! Imagine that.

This player has a multitude of features, most of which are accessible via the full feature remote control. You can play only CD's, random songs on each, play DVD's one after the other, if you choose.

The picture quality via the component video cables is outstanding! Colors are not over saturated, and crisp and clear.

The sound quality via the digital output is by far the best sound I have ever heard from any DVD player I have owned. The bass is low and distinct, and the voice clear from the center channel. Now I may be biased since I use this will my Onkyo 777 receiver, which is a THX certified, high output digital receiver.

I have had no problems with this unit whatso ever. It is a superb addition to my ever growning line of Onkyo home theatre/ audio vido products!

this is a great player. i never saw the need for a DVD changer, but when i saw the special on shoponkyo.com i couldnt pass it up. i got a refurb. unit and it looks and performs as though it was brand new. easy to use, goes great with my txsr602 and onkyo remote. i havent tried to play MP3s discs yet, but i am confident that onkyo will come through for me once again.

I have had the 701 for almost a year now, and have been very impressed with the features and ease of use that all of my ONKYO products seem to have. I don't think that one could ask for a much better DVD player for the price!

Great product. Dont know how easy to use the remote is since i'm using my Tuner remote to control my dvd player. I like the features it has. I love the 6 disc changer. I like the fact that the dvd player can be controlled by another onkyo remote control so I do not have to mess with a bunch of remotes. Video and sound quality are fantastic. I'm using an S-video cable and an optical audio cable for best quality. i like the fact that the dvd player can play almost any kind of dvds. It even played all the foreign dvds I have.

I am very satisfied with this player. It has everything I need... Quality. Well built, quality image, unhindered transmission of the digital sound signal. Does everything I need it to and does it well. Well laid out menus and remote. Plays my DVD's, music CD's flawlessly. It is one component you won't know that you have because you don't have to mess with it to make it work. Put your DVD or CD in and off you go. IR function with my ONKYO receiver is a plus.... Now only if ONKYO would make a computer that worked so easy!! Keep up the great work.

I don't have a lot to add to what other's already have said. I haven't explored many of its features yet - such as mp3 playback, viewing jpgs, etc. Mostly I have used it to listen to CDs. As a CD player it is fantastic, especially for the onkyo online price. It is almost as if the DVD feature is a bonus.

Great dvd changer, the ability to change discs while still playing one is really great. Can hold up to 6 discs, just load up those season sets!!! Cons: It is kind of slow and loud when changing discs. But overall, a great deal

DV-CP701 don't know where you can find a unit that equals in features for the base price of the DV-CP701 not to mention the great deals that you can find out there on this unit as we come into the holiday season. I have had some problems with DVD-R discs, but nothing that would prevent this from being a great deal. I thank Onkyo for providing us with quality choices and for allowing us the opportunity to share in the great deals on their products as a consumer directly from their on-line store.

This combo DVD/CD changer is great. I can put 6 discs in the tray and play just the cds on shuffle while still having a couple DVDs in there as well. This unit has the features that everyone can use but also features that are really nice for someone who wants more than the normal DVD player. You can adjust picture quality (contrast, brightness, colorbalance...) Has settings for all the Digital audio to customize exactly what you want to be played. Great unit especially for the price!

When I first get this DVD player, I tried playing MP3s, CDs, DVDs. All of them worked fine. It played my poor quality MP3 CDs extremely well. I was really impressed with that. I also played "Black Hawk Down" and it came out pretty well too. Chapter skipping is really really fast. I connected its Component video out to my Denon AVR and pictures looked awesome. It also has a COAX digital out.

What I didn't like is its Remote Control, which has a cheap look.

The sound and picture are amazing, but I think that the old dv-c501 may have a more accurate sound- However, for the price of this on the Shop Onkyo website, you cannot beat this! the JPG playback is amazing! As a final note, this thing is massive, it is a huge square unit, so ensure that you can fit it into your rack before purchasing it.
